  1. JEE Mains

JEE is the abbreviated form of Joint Entrance Exam that is conducted for admission in different streams of engineering in engineering colleges all over India. The exam is conducted by the Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE). JEE now takes place every year in place of All India Engineering Entrance Exam (AIEEE) and IIT- Joint Entrance Examination (IIT-JEE).

Pattern of the Examination: JEE Mains has two papers; paper 1 and paper 2. Candidates have the option to choose between one or both the papers. Paper 1 is for candidates seeking admission to B.Tech courses and paper 2 is for candidates seeking admission to B.Arch. courses. Both the papers have multiple choice questions.

  1. JEE Advanced

JEE Advanced is the second stage of JEE where candidates who qualify for JEE Mains can apply. Qualifying JEE Advanced lets you admission to the premier engineering institutes like the Indian Institute of Technology (IIT). The exam is jointly conducted by the zonal IIT’s.

Pattern of the Examination: JEE Advanced has two papers each of three hour duration.  Candidates are given the option of choosing the paper in either English or Hindi. The question paper consists of three sections each section comprising of Physics, Chemistry and Mathematics.


Birla Institute of Technology and Science Admission Test abbreviated as BITSAT is also one of the engineering entrance exams that lets you admission into BITS that is an Indian Institute of higher education. The online test in conducted in the month of May and June every year. The candidate is tested on knowledge, analytical and reasoning abilities in English, Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry and logical reasoning. The exam is conducted at 20 centres all over India.


The annual entrance exam is conducted by the Vellore Institute of Technology all over India and abroad. The exam is conducted for all the B.Tech courses the Vellore Institute of Technology in both its Vellore and Chennai campus. The students who wish to appear for this exam should qualify the following eligibility criteria:

  • The candidate must be an Indian national or a Non-Resident Indian
  • The candidate must be not more than 22 years of age
  • Candidates must have either completed or must be appearing for qualifying exam such as CBSE, ICSC or 10+2 of equivalent state boards

The exam takes place online and offline and candidates can choose their medium.

  1. UPSEE

UPSEE that stands for Uttar Pradesh State Entrance Exam is a state level exam for engineering institutions and professional colleges assigned to Uttar Pradesh Technical University (UPTU) by the state government of Uttar Pradesh. The exam is held for admission into B.Tech and other courses that the institutes under UPTU offer. The syllabus for the exam depends on the course that a candidate is applying for physics and mathematics as compulsory subjects.



Popularly known as Consortium of Medical, Engineering and Dental Colleges of Karnataka. The entrance exam is conducted by Private Engineering, Medical and Dental colleges Association of Karnataka for admission to post graduate courses.

  1. Punjab CET

A state level examination that on qualification offers admission to various undergraduate courses in the field of engineering, pharmacy and architecture. The exam is conducted by Punjab Technical University, Jalandhar and offers admissions to a number of colleges affiliated to itself and Guru Nanak Dev University, Amritsar, Punjabi University, Patiala and Punjab Agricultural University, Ludhiana.

The students appearing for the exam should have cleared 10+2 exams with Maths, Physics and Chemistry as main subjects.

  1. IPU CET 

IPU CET is a common entrance test that takes place for students seeking admissions to courses in the Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University informally known as the Indraprastha University. Considered to be one of the fastest growing universities of North India, IP University conducts approximately 46 CETs for admission to different courses.

Exam Pattern: The paper is a 150 minutes test that constitutes multiple choice questions with equal weightage for physics, chemistry and mathematics.

  1. JNU EEE

JNU EEE abbreviated for Jawaharlal Nehru University Engineering Entrance Exam is conducted by Jawaharlal Nehru University for admissions into engineering courses for doctorate courses and post graduate courses.

  1. WBJEE

The joint entrance examination by West Bengal State government is a state level exam that offers admission to different engineering colleges in West Bengal. Only candidates with Indian nationality can apply for the entrance exam.

Exam Pattern: The paper is a multiple choice question paper with questions divided into three parts that have different marking scheme. The question paper will have questions from physics, chemistry and mathematics.
